With a couple of days of great weather forecasted, local families are about to get spoiled this weekend with two separate back-to-back children-focused events taking place in the city on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday will see the 2019 return of Touch-a-Truck to the Keystone Centre grounds between 9am and 4pm. The event will include an opportunity to touch and explore a bevy of vehicles from Brandon and Westman businesses and organizations including construction vehicles, farm equipment, emergency vehicles, utility vehicles and more. Other attractions will include a sand pit, bouncy houses, an interactive display from Just 4 Kids, a meet-and-greet with Chase and Skye and more. A BBQ and ice cream truck will be on-site. Cost to enter will be $5 with proceeds going to Kokum’s Early Enrichment Program.
Sunday will see the Discovery Centre debut of the Children’s Country Fair. Billed as Manitoba’s largest free fair, the event features attractions such as a rock wall, obstacle course, petting zoo, wagon ride, treasure dig and plenty more (see below). The fair will run on Sunday from 10am-4pm with admission being free.
In order for families to be as prepared for Sunday as they can be, a full list of attractions for the Country Fair was shared recently on Dreams for Kids’ various social media outlets:
Not to be out-done, the Kiwanis Club of Brandon is holding their annual Kiwanis Kar Derby on Saturday on Rideau Street
Though I’d always advise checking the most recent forecast, as of the time of this posting Environment Canada is calling for Saturday to be sunny with a high of 20 degrees. Sunday is currently expected to be 24 and sunny.
