Cannabis store to open Corral Centre location

Posted by Adam in Local News, 6/5/2019

Corral Centre will be the latest major shopping area of Brandon to get a Cannabis retailer after it was learned recently that Tokyo Smoke will be opening a store within the development later this year.

The location, as shown on the site plan for Corral Centre on its website, is to be the Eastern-most unit in the recently constructed building that separately houses DQ and newly opened Freshii. The store will be the second in the city for Tokyo Smoke, which also has a location at 628 18th street. A spokesperson for the company was not yet able to confirm additional details except that intent is to operate the two Brandon locations.

Just over two months ago another retailer in the Cannabis space, Delta 9, opened a store at Brandon’s other major shopping area in the city’s South end at Shoppers Mall.

Cannabis became legalized in Canada with restrictions in October. Rules in Manitoba have set the minimum age to 19 and disallowed use in public. The Government of Canada has published a page as a resource on topics relating to Cannabis and legalization. That information can be found at this link. The Government of Manitoba has published a page with Manitoba-specific information including more on laws in our province at this link.

With the newest store taking up the third and final spot in Corral Centre’s newest building, the area’s only vacancy now listed on the property’s website is the 6081 square foot space between Dollarama and Moore’s that is currently occupied by Ardene.
