Brandon Police have concluded response to what was deemed a high risk incident on Thursday that resulted in the public being advised to avoid an area of the city for the better part of the day.
In todayâs media release, Police have shared that the precautions taken were in connection to what they say was the recovery of a stolen vehicle in 14th Street North and the belief that suspects in that alleged theft may have been in possession of firearms. The area was blocked off and the public advised during the noon hour to avoid while a search warrant was obtained for the related property. The warrant was obtained just before 8pm, after which time Police say they located a sawed off shotgun and suspected matching piece of barrel.
Investigation would later proceed to an area to the Southwest of the city where an additional firearm and other suspected stolen property was recovered.
Two male suspects are in custody, lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and to appear in court today facing a host of charges as outlined in greater detail in todayâs Police media release.
