Blue Hills RCMP, Brandon Detachment issued a notice this evening informing of and applauding extreme efforts of a witness that led to the charging of a 26-year old man with outstanding arrest warrants by Winnipeg Police.
RCMP say that at just after 11am this morning they were called to respond to a reported gas and dash in the town of Carberry at a local station. As part of an effort that led to Police locating the suspect, a witness also filling up at the gas station located the suspect vehicle and followed it toward Brandon. They would confirm the vehicle with the gas station and report to Police who intercepted it East of the city. After stopping the vehicle Police say that it was determined to have been stolen from Beausejour and that despite the suspect providing a false name fingerprints revealed them to be wanted on three arrest warrants by Winnipeg Police.
The driver will appear in Brandon court on Friday on charges of Theft of motor vehicle, Possess property obtained by crime, Impersonation and Obstruction. A second vehicle occupant was determined to be a hitch-hiker and has been released.
