Damaging winds bring early end to season as Water Park looks to 2020

Posted by Adam in Recreation, 8/28/2019

In mid-June Splish Splash Water Park set up on the water of Lake Minnedosa as the province’s first floating inflatable water park. The introduction to the Westman summer scene was met with much fan fare amongst a population starving for something different when looking for ways to spend hot summer days.

Now nearly 2 1/2 months later, after whats described as a successful summer the park is having to close slightly ahead of its originally planned September 2nd end date for the 2019 season due to what it says were recent damaging winds to the water park. Though the park says the structure itself is not damaged, a chain will require repair with amount of time to fix being greater than the amount left in the season.

Its said that any day passes won in contests such as those held on eBrandon in June will remain eligible for use next year.

According to a park spokesperson, 2019 has been a success with just under 10,000 people attending since opening... a net benefit not only for the business but for Tourism in Minnedosa.

It was also shared with me that plans are already underway for 2020, where a monster slide is to be added as well as nightly wipeout-style races. Plans are also being made for an annual belly flop competition.

Setup next year is expected to once again take place in mid-June, not that you or I will be wishing our winters away too soon ;)
