Bakery’s 'Kindness Coffee' board a chance to share a warm pick-me-up

Posted by Adam in Dining, 8/29/2019

Sometimes all it takes is the simplest thoughtful gesture to make someone’s day. It’s a fact often lost in the busy of everyday life, but thanks to a local bakery there’s a great way to anonymously share a little bit of kindness of your own.

Chez Angela debuted on Wednesday in their downtown bakery and cafe a Kindness Coffee board, which gives folks stopping in an outlet to treat a stranger to a coffee that they feel could use a pat on the back or pick-me-up:

"That's what kindness is. It's not doing something for someone else because they can't, but because you can." - Andrew Iskander We're inviting you on a journey of random kindness with us. Today we hung this cork board that lets you buy a coffee for someone who needs one. Or, if you need one, maybe someone has already bought one for you. You may never know the person you're buying a coffee for, but we know that it will warm them up and brighten their day. All this week, when you buy a coffee for a stranger, we'll match your generosity and throw an extra one in, too. Together we can hopefully help make someone happy when skies are grey. #passiton #becausekindness #community #bringthehappy #baddaydisruption #smilemachine #downtown #bakeshop #café

Just as they’ve taken the initiative to provide an outlet for folks in the community to spread kindness, the bakery has been on the receiving end of a little love of its own with posts on the initiative seeing their share of warm reaction across their social media.

The board itself has already seen the exchange of plenty of good vibes. In less than a day I gather there have already been in the neighbourhood of 20 folks taking part including notes for teachers or university students heading into the school year and another that adds an extra touch of generosity by adding a cookie “for anyone who needs a lift today.”

You can share a coffee or maybe even find out that someone’s bought one for you by stopping by Chez Angela Bakery and Cafe’s downtown location at 29-C 10th street.
