Its said a picture is worth thousand words, or in this case many thousands of books containing exponentially more words currently setup in the Victoria Inn’s Grand Ballroom in preparation for the Rotary Club of Brandon’s upcoming book sale.
The 2019 edition of Rotary’s fall book sale takes place over three days beginning tomorrow, September 5th and running through to Saturday in the Victoria Inn’s Grand Ballroom.
Making use of pretty close to every inch of the 8000 square foot ballroom are an estimated 70,000-75,000 books across categories spanning biography, history, children’s, how-to, business, fiction novels and everything in between. Books are generally priced at $4 for hard cover and $2 for soft cover with kids books ranging from 25 cents to $1.50.
As is the custom for Rotary’s sales, each child attending receives a free book. As a regular attendee of the sale, I recommend going the sooner the better for best selection.
Books that make up the sale are comprised of those received through the recognizable yellow book donation bins that Rotary places throughout the city in between sale dates. For those looking to continue the cycle of buy-donate-buy again, bins in anticipation of next spring’s sale are to re-appear in January.
The sale will take place on Thursday from 9am - 8pm, Friday from 9am - 6pm and Saturday from 9am - 2pm.
