With retirement announcement, Brandon show to be among duo’s last

Posted by Adam in Local Events, 9/18/2019

Ice dance duo Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir set off many an “I’m not crying, you’re crying” moment in Canada last night when it was shared that they will soon be stepping away from the sport after 22 years of skating.

While it was clearly an emotional announcement to make for the two and is a sad time for followers of their triumphs on the world stage, there’s a silver lining for local fans with Brandon scheduled to be an upcoming stop as part of their Rock the Rink tour.

Beginning October 5th, Rock the Rink is scheduled to make a host of stops across Canada including October 20 at Westoba Place.

Based on a survey of the ticket map on the Keystone website most popular sections are showing “medium” availability for the event. With the tour seeming to now also take on the significance of being a farewell event for two of the most decorated athletes in Canadian sport history it wouldn’t surprise in the least to see the available seat count (and department store stock of tissue boxes) dwindle.

Also scheduled to be part of next month’s show are Canadians Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko and more skating talent from the USA and Europe.

Tickets, which range from $39.50 to $119.50, are available for purchase at this link

The Rock the Rink tour concludes with a November 23 show in St. John's, Newfoundland.
