With the final weekend of the summer on our doorstep, Souris is set to host its annual Scarecrow Days this weekend with a host of events and attractions scheduled throughout the town primarily on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday’s highlights will include town wide yard sales (39 registered so far), a pumpkin or apple recipe contest, farmer’s market and a ‘Pumpkin Caper’ game that gives folks a chance to test their skills in firing apples at pumpkin targets in the Victoria Park bowl. Also taking place in the afternoon will be 27 open houses as part of a Parade of Homes.
Sunday highlights will include free wagon rides, a Show and Shine Car Show and a flea market. The weekend winds down with Sunday evening’s Fall Supper at the Main Street Cafe.
Both Saturday and Sunday will also feature an agility dog show at Souris curling club. The weekend will be kicked off with a BBQ lunch on Friday.
This year's event comes with the theme 'Family Fun' and marks the 28th annual hosting of the weekend.
Though forecasts change from hour-to-hour and I always recommend checking most recent forecast before basing decisions on the weather, as of the time of this posting Environment Canada is calling for a nominal 30% chance of showers on Saturday followed by sunny skies and a high of 20 degrees on Sunday.
A full schedule of events is included below with more details being available at http://www.sourismanitoba.com
