A Bell MTS representative has confirmed that two significant upgrades to its cell phone network in Brandon are now on-air.
Early last week a newly constructed tower at 13th Street and Aberdeen Avenue had been pronounced on air with a second new installation on the roof of Lions Manor at 1st Street and Victoria Avenue enabled by the end of the week. eBrandon first reported on the upgrades in early August.
It's not yet known what range the sites have, with a Bell MTS representative advising that tests on coverage and capacity are planned for later in October.
In addition to being positioned nearby well-inhabited residential areas, the towers are in close proximity to some of the cityâs most-used facilities. The Brandon Regional Health Centre is just a stoneâs throw away from Lionâs Manor and the Keystone Centre and Shoppers Mall are within an approximate 1 kilometre radius of the 13th and Aberdeen tower.
Based on information from a Rogers Communications spokesperson in August itâs believed that upgrades would also apply to Rogers customers as part of a network sharing agreement between Rogers and Bell MTS in the province.
If you happen to be with either provider, you can share your thoughts on any observations you may have made in the attached discussion thread.
