For folks looking for among the most authentic of holiday experiences, a local Brandon-area initiative in its first year of full operation might have just your ticket.
Brandon Hills U-Cut Christmas Trees allows folks the chance to hand-pick, hand-cut and take home their own fresh Scots Pine tree from their farm just minutes South of the city.
Current trees available are in the 6-8 foot tall range, with each costing $50. Customers are provided with the necessary saw. Hours this weekend will be 11am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday with the opportunity to attend by appointment outside of that all the way up to Christmas.
Setting up the farm has been a project 11 years in the making, with the first of trees planted in 2008 and subsequent trees started in the years following to the point where approximately 2000 trees now grow on-site. All are hand-trimmed every June to maintain the traditional Christmas tree shape. With some of the first planted trees starting to reach maturity last year, a soft opening was held by making a post on this website and some trees sold by appointment only. 2019 is the first year of offering open cutting hours.
To reach the farm’s location, follow highway 10 South of the City and turn East on Road 53N where Renaissance Trucking/Lucky Star Truck Wash is located. Proceed 2.5 miles and then turn south. The location is at the first lane after the second stop sign and blue sign at the end of the lane with 107092.
