A unique store focusing on locally produced Manitoban items has secured an extended stay in the Wheat City following an initial plan to temporarily open up shop for holiday season shoppers.
Mainly Manitoba has confirmed that after the level of support seen since opening in November it will remain in its Shoppers Mall Brandon location through the end of April 2020. The original plan had been to operate for the months of November and December, which would have previously made today its final day.
In addition to success in the form of shoppers that you’d have been hard pressed not to notice on Mall visits during the leadup to Christmas, Mainly Manitoba owners Dean and Amy Dalman tell me that the enhanced visibility from their Brandon presence has provided more opportunity to connect with the kinds of local producers and craftsmen that they carry product from.
Going forward the store is to feature what’s described as an ever-changing array of items with new products coming in every week. Thus far among the wide assortment of items carried some of the more popular sellers have included Steel Art Silhouettes (Shoal Lake), Reusable fruit and veggie bags (Ninette), Bees and Gees wax wraps (Morden) and “Two Old Farts” signs (Rossburn).

Mainly Manitoba debuted its initial location in Wasagaming this past spring, which is to re-open at the beginning of May to coincide with lake season. While stopping short of calling their Brandon presence permanent, store management has left the door open to further evaluate their offering in the city at the end of April.
Brandon hours through April are to parallel those of Shoppers Mall, which earlier this month announced changes to 2020 hours over each of the week’s seven days.
