Following news this week of the second resignation from the Brandon School Division Board of Trustees of the past half year, Brandonites will be asked to go to the polls this coming May in an effort to fill what are now two vacancies on the Divisionâs Board of Trustees.
Trustee Stephen Montague submitted his resignation at Mondayâs school board meeting in order to pursue a professional opportunity in Winnipeg. Trustee Kevan Sumner resigned during the summer to pursue an opportunity out of province. In their absence the board is down to seven members including six from within Brandon.
In a message shared on social media Thursday afternoon, a timeline was shared by Brandon School Division on the process that is to be followed to fill vacancies beginning with candidate nominations in April before a Trustee By-Election on Monday, May 4th. Polling locations are to be announced:
The current board was selected via the October 2018 election, which saw 15 candidates vying for eight Brandon positions.
