Construction on Koch Fertilizer's new $33M Brandon HQ reaches halfway mark

Posted by Adam in Local News, 2/26/2020

Work on Koch Fertilizer’s soon-to-be brand new Brandon headquarters has continued on schedule through the winter months with full-scale construction on the project this month having crossed the approximate halfway point of a timeline that was to see construction complete in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Koch currently has staff in the city working off-site out of a location in the Renaissance Station property in addition to on-site at 17th Street East. When complete the new headquarters will bring that staff under one roof with office space for more than 100 spanning areas that include operations, logistics, and sales and marketing. When complete, the transition to the new facility will take place across various departments over approximately a year according to Plant Manager Paul Liddle.

Ground had been broken on construction on the two storey building in late April 2019 as part of a ceremony that included Premier Brian Pallister.

Koch employs 275 in the city, a number that is not expected to significantly change in the transition to the new headquarters.

As part of its local operations, the plant produces nitrogen fertilizers for distribution around North America via agricultural distributors and retailers with an emphasis on Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The local investment is part of what is expected to be $130 million in improvements over a five year period designed for expansion, efficiency and improved environment, health and safety performance.
