After a soft opening earlier in the week, Brandonâs newest pet store made its arrival in the city official on Saturday in holding grand opening festivities.
To mark the occasion, 50 gift cards of $25 each were advertised as being up for grabs to the first 50 shoppers through the doors. For their chance at being in that select group a handful could be seen waiting in the warmth of vehicles prior to 8am with a crowd several dozen customers queued by the time doors opened at 9am.
The weekendâs below-normal local temperatures meant that early shoppers would have to earn their reward. In the hour leading up to opening on Saturday morning, Brandon sat at minus 21 degrees or minus 29 with the windchill.
Shoppers visiting the store throughout the day were also getting a chance to enter to win a larger $250 gift card. Various grand opening specials were advertised along with free samples.
An additional giveaway of 50 gift cards was being advertised for Sunday with store opening slated for 10am.
PetSmartâs Brandon store of more than 13,500 square feet is located at the former Shoppers Drug Mart location of 1350 18th street.
