As reported by Q Country this morning, RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance after receiving a report this week of the theft of 35 shotguns and rifles from a Souris home. Its said that the theft will have taken place between early December and January 10, however was not reported until Monday.
Its asked that anyone with information on the theft or on locating the firearms contact Souris RCMP at 204-483-2854. You may also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip via http://www.manitobacrimestoppers.com
It would be human nature to read that headline and come away with some level of concern. Personally I tend to derive some comfort in knowing that as recently as this weekend Police were known to be involved in seizing allegedly unauthorized firearms, though there’s been no indication given at this time that the incidents in Brandon and this theft are related.
