With the weather taking a decidedly summery turn, the City of Brandon has announced plans for the opening of its outdoor spray parks later this month.
So long as approval is received from Manitoba Health officials, local splash pads are scheduled to open for daily use throughout the summer months beginning Monday, June 29 according to a Tuesday morning notice shared by the city.
Usage of city facilities like many aspects of day-to-day life have been in a state of uncertainty this spring alongside measures in place in the city, province and country to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In order to open in consistency with the Province’s Restoring Safe Services plan, modified rules will be in place at spray parks including identified entry, exit and lineup points for splash pads as well as limited capacity.
Following splash pad openings, the city says that an early July opening is planned for the the outdoor Kinsmen Park pool at Rideau Park.
Brandon is home to a total of five splash pads including Rideau Park, Stanley Park, Kin Park, Westridge and last year's new addition as part of the recently renovated Valleyview Community Centre (pictured).

Alongside Tuesday's announcement, it was advised that the aforementioned facilities will not be on the receiving end of extra sanitizing over the course of the season.
This year's opening comes just slightly behind the schedule that had been followed last year when parks had opened on weekends in mid-June. More details on the planned 2020 opening can be read at:
