One day after learning that the City of Brandon’s splash pads will be opening toward the end of the month, another major Westman outdoor recreation option has shared that its own opening date is on the horizon.
Minnedosa’s Splish Splash Water Park is set to return for its second season out on Lake Minnedosa, with setup scheduled to take place next week in anticipation of a June 26 opening day.
New this year will be the addition of nightly 'wipeout' races according to park operator Gerry Champagne. The nightly competition will see people and teams compete for prizes in a race around the track and all of the elements that make up the park. Also highlighted as new in 2020 is the addition of a professional launcher, someone particularly adept at making use of the park’s jumping pillow to send guests high into the air. The launcher will be on hand on Thursday and Friday evenings.
When setup on the water, the park will follow a different configuration than what you see in the photo attached to this post with the various elements on the water re-arranged to allow for better flow of users in getting on and off the structure.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought changes for many re-opening businesses and parks and Splish Splash is no exception. The park is to operate at 50% of its rated 110-130 person capacity with visitors asked to be respectful of physical distancing requirements. Life jackets that are offered to patrons are sanitized and wiped down after every use and the park itself sanitized daily.

The popular launcher pillow is taken for a test drive on setup day for the park last year
Last year’s highly anticipated opening season of the park came to a somewhat early end in late August as a result of overnight storm wind damage. New this year as part of installation on the lake is the addition of heavy duty bungee chords to further re-enforce chains used to fix the park in place.
The beach’s canteen is expected to be open alongside the park by next weekend. Minnedosa's beach area is also entering its first summer with a newly installed playground, adding to its appeal as a family recreation destination.
Splish Splash last weekend marked the opening of a second location at Morden’s Colert Beach at Lake Minnewasta.
