The city announced this morning that after a 36 year career with Brandon Fire and Emergency Services, Fire Chief Brent Dane is retiring effective Feb 1.
Dane had been in the role since 2005, over which time the City of Brandon was required to respond to two historic flood events in each of 2011 and 2014. Among other noteworthy events during the outgoing chief’s tenure was serving as project manager on construction of the 19th St North firehall.
Appointed as Dane’s replacement is Scott McDonald. McDonald has been with BFES for 34 years, most recently in the role of Deputy Chief since 2014.
Both the City and Police Chief Wayne Balcaen took the time to share their congrats:
Thanks to outgoing Chief Dane for all of his years of service and congrats to the new Chief in town!
