HIFIS ? Encampment Coordinator

 

Overview:

The Encampment Coordinator is responsible for implementing the BNRC encampment strategy in Brandon, coordinating encampment-specific resources with HIFIS Partner Agencies, the Coordinated Access system, provincial government resources, and the municipal government. The Encampment Coordinator will collect encampment and unsheltered homelessness data alongside the HIFIS team while ensuring individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness are triaged, prioritized, and supported to gain housing.

Qualifications

o   Post-secondary education in social services or equivalent life experience

o   Experience with HIFIS and PHIA considered an asset

o   Experience working in the homeless services sector or with vulnerable populations is an asset.

o   Exercises discretion, empathy, and maintains confidentiality.

o   Ability to work effectively as a team and independently, with knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity, particularly Indigenous culture.

o   A dependable team member with the capacity to learn quickly

 

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a project-based one-year term position, with the opportunity for ongoing employment based on future funding opportunities.

RENUMERATION

The current wage for this position is $26 - $28 per hour for 37.5 hours per week, depending on qualifications and experience.

 

WORK LOCATION

This position is based on-site at the BNRC Main Office (440 Rosser Avenue)

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

o   Work alongside encampment outreach teams, case manager support teams, and housing placement resources to triage and prioritize individuals living unsheltered and unhoused for housing units.

o   Develop relationships with housing providers to create a housing unit inventory specifically for encampment strategy use.

o   Coordinate with HIFIS team, HIFIS Partner Agencies, and municipal government to attain housing support for unhoused individuals living unsheltered or in encampments.

o   Collect and input data using the HIFIS database to track encampments, housing placements, and community level statistics.

o   Advocate for individuals living in encampments or in unsheltered homelessness.

o   Identify gaps in resources for individuals living unsheltered or in encampments and develop solutions alongside HIFIS team, partner agencies, and all levels of government.
