The Western Manitoba Women?s Centre serves women, gender diverse individuals and their children across Western Manitoba with trauma-informed counselling, advocacy, and inclusive programming. Through grassroots connection, community partnerships, and a focus on systemic change, we create safe, empowering spaces where people are seen, supported, and inspired to thrive.
The Western Manitoba Women?s Centre is currently seeking a Community Engagement Support (CES) worker to fill a full-time position. The CES will provide frontline support within our drop-in program, administrative assistance, and program support within the Community Engagement team.
This role works closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) and Community Engagement Lead (CEL) to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, provide immediate support to individuals accessing drop-in services, and assist with client navigation and basic needs.
The position plays a key role in creating a welcoming, safe, and responsive environment for all individuals accessing services.
About the Role:
? Serve as a first point of contact for individuals accessing drop-in services, alongside the drop-in Program Coordinator
? Complete intakes, identify immediate needs and offer support to clients, assist with case management
? Assist clients with completing basic forms, applications, and accessing services
? Provide clients with information on available community resources (housing, food, healthcare, etc.)
? Support distribution of internal resources (e.g., hygiene products, food items, menstrual supplies)
? Help clients connect with appropriate staff (CEC/CEL) for more complex needs
? Provide administrative and logistical support to the Community Engagement team, including support with workshop and presentation preparations
? Responsible for managing and prioritizing the client waitlist, including timely follow-up and effective triaging to ensure appropriate and efficient service delivery
? Maintain confidentiality and follow the policies/procedures of FIPPA, PHIA, Child Welfare, Board Policies, professional standards, and other relevant Acts
? Professional skills shall include self-motivation to complete workload, being client-centered, providing support and advocacy for the client, ensuring appropriate referrals are completed as needed, collaborating with other service providers when indicated
? Participate in training, workshops, presentations as deemed important by Directors of Counselling and Advocacy and Director of Operations
? Provide education and support about gender-based violence to everyone affected by the trauma, such as parents, children, friends
? Promote the profile of the Western Manitoba Women?s Centre counselling services within Brandon and the Westman area
? Liaise with other service providers and participate in community activities to bring awareness of gender-based violence in the community
? Report statistics on a monthly basis
Relevant Qualifications:
? Relevant education or experience in social services, community support, or a related field
? Knowledge of theories and current research of gender-based violence, sexual assault, trauma-informed and client centered practices
? Knowledge of theories of gender-based violence from a feminist, multicultural, anti-racist, anti-oppression perspective
? Knowledge of locally available community-based resources and services for survivors of gender-based violence
? Experience working with vulnerable and diverse populations with a trauma-informed inclusive approach
? Computer knowledge, written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills
? Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and within the Western Manitoba Women?s Centre?s feminist philosophy

Compensation Range:
$25.00 - $26.00 per hour
Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week
