Job Title: Autism Support Specialist

Position Type: Full Time, 24 hour rotation
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Autism Support Specialist to provide
dedicated support for a 9-year-old boy with autism who exhibits aggressive behaviors. The ideal
candidate will be skilled in managing challenging behaviours and fostering a safe, nurturing
environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Behaviour Management:
- Implement individualized behaviour management strategies tailored to the child?s needs.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate behaviour.
- Support and Engagement:
- Facilitate engaging activities that promote social skills, communication, and emotional
regulation.
- Provide one-on-one support during daily routines and activities.
- Communication:

- Collaborate with parents, therapists, and educational staff to develop and adapt behaviour
- Maintain clear and constructive communication with the child to help him express his feelings
- Safety Monitoring:
- Ensure the child?s safety at all times, especially during episodes of aggression.

- Keep detailed records of behaviour incidents, progress, and interventions used.
- Report regularly to parents and professionals involved in the child?s care.
Qualifications:
- Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years working with children with autism, particularly those exhibiting aggressive
- Proven experience in behaviour management and intervention strategies.
- Education:
- Relevant degree or certification in special education, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and tailored approaches for behavioural support.

- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Flexibility and creativity in problem-solving and adapting activities.
