CNC PROGRAMMER
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the CNC Programmer plays a key role in programming robotic and CNC cutting systems, developing nesting layouts and ensuring efficient, accurate production of steel components. The ideal candidate combines strong technical ability with effective communication and teamwork on the manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities:
? Program and optimize CNC cutting and robotic systems using Cortex, PeddiNest, Pronest and Vacam software
? Create efficient 2D and 3D nestings, maximizing material use and production throughput
? Review and interpret structural blueprints and shop drawings to ensure programs meet specifications
? Collaborate with machine operators and production staff to verify part accuracy and resolve programming or setup issues
? Maintain and document program files, revisions, and job notes for traceability
? Support troubleshooting of cutting and robotic systems, ensuring minimal downtime
? Participate in process improvement initiatives and help implement more efficient manufacturing workflows
Qualifications:
? Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Technology (or equivalent work experience).
? 2?4 years of experience in CNC programming or robotic operations, preferably in steel fabrication or structural manufacturing.
? Proficiency with Cortex, PeddiNest, Pronest, Vacam or comparable manufacturing post-processing tools.
? Skilled in AutoCAD and familiar with 3D and 2D nesting principles.
? Strong understanding of structural drawings, fabrication details, and part tolerances.
? Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
? Attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality and efficiency.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience integrating robotic cutting or welding technologies.
- Familiarity with steel material handling and production processes.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP manufacturing data systems.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods.
