Gas Bar Attendant (Part-Time)
For our Gas Bar/C-Store Department located in Wawanesa, MB
The Gas Bar Attendant is responsible for providing an exceptional level of customer service and maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and standards. This includes servicing customer vehicles by checking oil and washer fluid levels with customer permission, operating the point of sale system, merchandising and stocking products, handling propane services, performing safety and environmental checks, and maintaining site cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with fueling, cleaning vehicle windows, responding to inquiries, promoting products and services, and processing transactions accurately. Collaborate respectfully with Team Members to support a positive work environment and deliver a World Class Customer Experience.
- Service customer vehicles by fueling vehicles, checking oil and washer fluid levels with customer permission, maintaining window wash stations, and ensuring customers receive prompt and courteous service.
- Stock, organize, merchandise, and maintain retail products; ensure merchandise is properly faced, priced, signed, and presented according to Heritage Co-op Brand Standards; remain informed of promotions, updates, and bulletins.
- Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, gas bar, car wash, washrooms, exterior forecourt, and backroom areas; dispose of garbage and debris; perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning spills, sweeping, shoveling, and seasonal maintenance activities.
- Perform safety and environmental inspections; assist with opening and closing procedures including propane dispensing operations, air hose setup and storage, window washing stations, propane tank readings, and cardlock pump readings; follow all safety, WHMIS, TDG, occupational health and safety, asset protection, and security procedures.
- Operate the Point of Sale system and accurately process cash, debit, credit, and other payment methods while following established cash handling procedures.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of high school, preferred.
- Previous customer service experience is considered an asset.
- Retail, convenience store, gas bar, or cash-handling experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- Propane certification is considered an asset and may be required.
- WHMIS and TDG training are considered assets.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the retail industry.
- Ability to work in varying and extreme weather conditions.
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and repetitive movements.
- Regular handling of fuel, propane, merchandise, cleaning supplies, and equipment.
- Required use of all senses and adherence to safety, environmental, and customer service standards.
