It's almost that time of year!
Westman Groundworks is hiring dependable snow shovel crew members for the upcoming winter season. This position involves clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, entrances and driveways at condominium complexes and other assigned properties.
This is an on-call, weather-dependent position with no guaranteed or regularly scheduled hours. Crew members must be available when snowfall occurs and should be prepared to work long shifts during larger snow events.
Duties:
Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, entrances and driveways
-Apply ice-melting products when directed
-Operate snow blowers, shovels and other sidewalk-clearing equipment
-Follow assigned routes and complete properties within the expected time
-Work carefully around buildings, vehicles, landscaping and pedestrians
-Maintain communication with the crew leader and other team members
-Use routing and communication applications to receive assignments and document completed work
-Keep tools and equipment clean and report any damage or mechanical concerns
-Follow company safety procedures and site-specific instructions
-Assist with other snow-removal or shop duties when available
Requirements:
-Valid Class 5 driver?s licence
-Reliable cellphone with an active data plan for routing, job documentation and team communication
-Ability to work long hours outdoors in cold, snowy and challenging conditions
-Ability to perform physically demanding work, including repeated shovelling, lifting, pushing and walking
-Ability to work overnight, early-morning, weekend and holiday hours as snowfall requires
-Ability to report for work on short notice
-Dependable transportation to the designated starting location
-Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
-Dependable, punctual and safety-conscious
Assets:
-Previous commercial snow-removal experience
-Experience operating sidewalk-clearing equipment, such as:
Stand-on skid steers
Snowrators
Snow blowers
Similar compact snow-removal equipment
This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, can handle physically demanding shifts and takes pride in leaving properties clean and safe.
