Food Inventory and Guest Services
This position will provide support to the Food Bank, working to help document, maintain, and track inventory using the first in, first out method, and assisting with ordering pallets of food to increase inventory based on direction from the Food Bank Coordinator and/or Executive Director. This role will also provide exceptional guest services during non-delivery days to anyone entering our space to obtain their monthly hamper. This includes learning the front desk to help during the lunch rush, and working on other projects as needed.
This is a flexible part-time term position between the hours of 10:00 am ? 3:00 pm Monday to Friday, for approximately 25 hours per week. Every second Tuesday and one Thursday per month will require full days due to large deliveries. The schedule can be expected to change on a monthly basis.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain first in first out inventory system in the warehouse space
- Provide second person during truck unloading by manually confirming and verify loads being delivered to Packing List by Harvest MB, Stericycle, etc.
- Spot other staff while using the forklift ? manage sidewalk and street traffic as needed.
- Report any discrepancies, pest infestations or concerns with deliveries to the Food Bank Coordinator
- Assist with recommending inventory of products to be ordered
- Create and build solid, collaborative relationships with delivery personnel
- Ability to use computer system to review monthly hamper information
- Learn the front desk to provide relief during lunch hours and vacation
- Assist the Food Bank Coordinator with supervising volunteers
- Potential to work on other projects as assigned such as researching translators for our intake documents, maintaining safety records, etc.
- Report safety hazards in all work areas of the warehouse
- Sort inventory into bins as directed coordinating storage of product along with team
- Keep sidewalk in front of warehouse clear and shovelled
- Assisting with other duties as assigned by the Food Bank Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 driver?s license
- Experience driving a cube truck will be considered an asset
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to work in a variety of conditions through all seasons
- Physically fit, able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively, wear steel toe boots, and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Proficient and comfortable using computers and software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
