We are seeking a Yard Attendant to join our team! Yard Attendants are responsible for the operation of our yard, including loading and unloading materials, performing deliveries and pickups, the safe storage of product, the efficient handling of customer/contractor orders, supporting our customers in the yard with friendly and helpful service, and the overall operations of South End Lumber Timber Mart's building material yard and on-site storage facilities.
Responsibilities
- Loading trucks with orders and delivering/unloading orders at job sites.
- Ensuring all deliveries are loaded promptly to meet delivery schedules.
- Receiving, unloading and safe storage of building materials & products being shipped in from vendors.
- Providing friendly and helpful service to customers in the yard.
- Ensuring the yard is kept clean and organized, free of garbage and debris.
- Maintaining all inventory and ensuring products are kept organized.
- Stocking/re-stocking and labelling of all inventory.
- Building customer orders, including staging, loading and coordination of delivery.
- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely (training provided)
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy materials (up to 100 lbs) consistently throughout their shift.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Forklift certification is an asset (training will be provided if the candidate is not certified).
- Great communication and customer service skills.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Valid Class 5 driver?s licence required.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work Saturdays on a rotating schedule.
