Food Store Manager (Full-Time)
For our Food Store located in Erickson, MB
The Food Store Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and operation of the Erickson Food Store. This position ensures safe, efficient, and member-focused operations while driving sales growth, merchandising excellence, financial performance, and employee development. The successful candidate will foster a positive workplace culture, deliver exceptional customer service, and support Heritage Co-op's commitment to serving members and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for all Food Store operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant business practices.
- Oversee inventory management, purchasing, merchandising, pricing, product flow, and overall store presentation to maximize sales and profitability.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and employee development initiatives while promoting a positive and engaged team culture.
- Monitor and manage financial performance, including budgeting, expense control, labour management, sales growth, and margin achievement.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, and company policies and procedures.
- Deliver and promote exceptional customer service standards while resolving customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, vendors, members, and community stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of marketing programs, promotional events, loyalty initiatives, and community engagement activities.
- Maintain store assets, equipment, housekeeping standards, inspections, and asset protection programs.
- Analyze business performance and identify opportunities for operational improvements, increased efficiencies, and sales growth.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma is required.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Retail Management, Commerce, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3-6+ years of retail experience, preferably within a grocery or food retail environment.
- Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience is required.
- Experience within the Co-op Retailing System is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in merchandising, inventory management, purchasing, budgeting, pricing, and customer service.
- Experience ensuring compliance with Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, and Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and effectively resolve customer concerns.
- Experience building and maintaining vendor, customer, and community relationships.
- Experience supporting retail marketing initiatives, promotions, and loyalty programs.
- Familiarity with asset protection, maintenance planning, store inspections, and operational audits.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and corrective action processes.
- Strong computer proficiency, including retail management and point-of-sale systems.
