Transportation Driver - Casual
Location: Sioux Valley location
Position Summary:
Transportation Drivers will operate a school bus for the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Education Department. Drivers are responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for students to and from school and school-related activities.
Position Duties:
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday; daily hours may vary based on transportation schedules and operational requirements.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and special events as assigned by the Education Department.
- Safely transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, field trips, and other approved events.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws, transportation regulations, and Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Education Department policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students while on the bus.
- Report accidents, incidents, mechanical concerns, and student behavioral issues in a timely manner.
- Keep buses clean, fueled, and properly maintained, and promptly report maintenance requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Abstain from the use of alcohol and/or illegal drugs for a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours prior to operating a school bus and comply with all applicable drug and alcohol policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Minimum two years driving experience
- Completion of CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain
- Successful completion of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search & Child Abuse Registry Check
- Must provide a current Drivers' Abstract
