Gotta say that’s a pretty lame deadline day for the wheat kings, the worst in years. Glad we didn’t sell the farm but would of been nice to make a couple of upgrades. Be interesting to see what happens with Armstrong and Anning after this season.

It’s been a tough year as a fan, from the GM’s roster decisions, subpar coaching and line combos, and now topping it off with an underwhelming trade deadline.  
 
If Mattheos isn’t back next year...this trade deadline has to be considered a disaster!!

I don't see how the two trades we made this week did anything to improve the team  
Yes we got Chizen but he just replaces Higson ....No difference  
Trade Hartjie for what 3rd round pick in the draft this year  
We did nothing to increase our lack of scoring up front .  
and we made our defense weaker

Younger players and signed prospects are very hard to trade now.  
 
I can’t recall exactly but I think 16 and 17 year olds can only be traded if they request one, and signed prospects can’t be traded at all. Someone correct me if I’m wrong though.

“Taking Note has been told that the league has decided that its teams won’t be allowed to trade any 15- or 16-year-old players who have signed WHL contracts. On top of that, the only time the trading of a 17-year-old player will be allowed is if that player has requested a trade.  
 
“The 17-year-old player will have had to approach the team’s general manager to ask for a trade: a team won’t be able to make the first move, asking said player to waive his no-trade clause. Taking Note was told that the WHL will approach a 17-year-old player’s parents to make sure the procedure was followed.”

If you read between the lines, a trade (two months in the making) was completed with both players involved being notified (one was on his way to Brandon), but Brandon's GM failed to get the paperwork to the league on time.  
 
That's extremely embarrassing for the organization and shows extreme incompetence of the Wheat Kings GM.

At this point of the season it looks like no post season play for the Wheaties, I can’t see them making up ground on Calgary or Red deer. From an honorable mention top ten chl rating to missing the playoffs you have to wonder.

What a difference nine days makes. Tied for 8th with an eye on 7th. Keep it going boys!

I’m as pleased as anyone to see the team we saw at the start of the year. The have beat some very good teams and proved to themselves they can compete minus last night. If they do make the playoffs 2 formidable foes await and with no true home ice due to the fair the chances of Brandon having any post season success isn’t on their side even if they can sneak in. One of the reasons for their success is Stelio. He’s piled a lot of points up and the top line is playing well. Stelio’s trade debacle also means no solid roster player to help down the road and no picks to develop or use in a trade to shore up something next year. So as great as it is to see them rolling it comes with a cost of no return for a player who who won’t be back and a team that really isn’t designed for a playoff run this year.
