It certainly will be crazy around town the next 8 days.  
 
Everything will be busy, restaurants will be full - but great for Brandon.  
 
My money is on Koe.

I think Gushue will be the team to beat but I am cheering for Manitoba for sure.  
 
Tonight I would like to see Botcher take the Wild Card spot.  
 
I can't believe this event is not sold out. I am going Wed for a draw and still on the fence about going tonight. I do like watching it on tv but it's right here so I should pry my arse off the couch and go more or I will regret it.

Do you need a ticket to attend the Brier Patch festivity’s or is that a walk in venue?

I am sure there will be walk up tickets available, especially during the day.

As for tonights Wild Card game, which is free, you still have to go get a ticket to get in. I guess so they cannot oversell the seating for the arena.

This is the Keystone Centre: there is no ticket required tonight - donations will be accepted on site, arrive early to ensure you have a seat.  
 
As well, the Patch is not ticketed. You must be 18+ to enter after 8PM.

I put up a post this afternoon and attached it to this thread.  
Funinthecity is right, no charge and no ticket tonight. Donations are taken at the door for the Curling Canada Foundation.  
 
Looks like tickets for the actual Brier must be selling pretty well. Just took a look on the Keystone tickets site and you can still get tickets for that first draw on Saturday but pretty scattered as far as whats avail!

Anyone know if south door at Westoba Place will be open tonight for the Wild card game

With the humidity and temp controls needed they can't be opening all sorts of doors like for hockey games.

You have to buy tickets to watch any game right, like its not a come and watch till a certain game you need to pay every game??

You can buy a day pass or a single draw pass.

Thanks for the link. Tickets are pretty good considering the level of curling. I'm surprised it's not sold out. Got a couple weekend tickets and was told there are quite a few still available.  
 
The Patch should be fun too! I think Koe will likely win it.

I don't curl, but have had relatives who were quite serious about it over the years, and my husband used to curl. So I have watched both live and on TV. But it's not something that I know a lot about the dynamics, rules, names, etc. So I REALLY liked the Brier ad that 'you don't have to know curling to love it'.  
"They are scrubbing the ice, it's very clean."  
"He hit the thingies out of the ice target!"

Am I the only one bothered by this?  
Why are they not showing lead stones full screen anymore? I don't care about seed right now!  
 
Why are we seeing huge ads instead of lead stones this year? Is TSN just being greedy with ad money?  
 
This makes me mad.

What we recall is you usually didn't see lead stones as the commercials were being shown. If you did is because they would stop between each end and wait for the commercials to play, thus the televised games would be longer than the other games. This way you can either watch the curling or the commercial. I could be wrong.

Yeah that sounds about right now that you mention it!

It's too bad it happened in such a close game. Team Ont. played great! I look forward to seeing how theses guy do this week.

Went to the Wild Card game last night, and again tonight. Wish I knew to bring a FM radio and listen to the TSN feed. Had to get one of their Smartbug radios mid way through. Definitely made it easier to follow being able to listen to the play by play. Not sure what frequency they are using though. They did announce prior to the start but did't catch it fully. Might take in another draw through the week.

To listen to the broadcast while at the draws, tune into 105.5. Just went there and found the frequency.

Made it out to part of the draw this morning. Had good friends growing up that were into curling (one of which was on the ice today)... but I've never been to a competitive draw before. A few thoughts from a newbie...  
 
- maybe its just the newness of it but the game felt like it had more pace to it live. I've watched my share on TV but normally in bits and pieces because of how slowly things seem to move.  
 
- i'm used to watching hockey in the same arena and have lots of great memories from that... but with the netting and glass taken out and the extra lighting it made for a real nice setting to watch whats going on on the ice. Felt a lot more like you were right there with the action  
 
- free Tims coffee makes me happy  
 
- even though the arena was maybe 1/2 to 2/3 full i was surprised by how much of a buzz there was in the building. Nice atmosphere to be part of, imagine it only gets better as the games start to mean more!  
 
Did a bit of experimenting with the camera. Things should start to get real tomorrow when the new lens comes in...

I think they may need to re-think the on ice advertising. I understand the importance of a sponsor getting exposure and really appreciate all the sponsors that make the brier an amazing event. I've just noticed to many players tripping over rocks that are sitting on the advertising. Obviously they are harder to see.

It is hard to see, but they know that this happens every year. Tim Hortons being the major sponsor of course wants their logo in every shot, which it is.  
 
All they need to do, to help somewhat is to change the color of the handles on the rocks. Blue has been used before.
