    Fishing the Assiniboine

    Is there a place along the Assiniboine near Treesbank or slightly downstream where a small boat could be launched to fish the mouth of the Souris River at the Assiniboine?

    You could launch where the old Treesbank Ferry used to be, then it is not that far of a boat to the mouth.

    I looked at that site but both sides seemed really steep. Could launch a canoe or kayak but didn't think I could get small boat down to it.

    I have fished there, but to put in a boat would require 4x4. Perhaps if there was some financial incentive, someone could do a little "launch-scaping". Wonder who would need to give permission.  
    Maybe a small jonboat would be appropriate to put in.

    It is too bad that access to really all stretches of the Assiniboine is so poor. A few boat launches along the River would allow for a lot of good fishing and site seeing. No public boat launches in Brandon itself with so much effort for community space along the River seems like an item that could be addressed.
