Not sold. The owners leased it to Mulligan's owner to run it. Not sure for how long though but hopefully, a better experience. Stay positive my friend.

I have never had a bad experience at Oak Island. In my opinion its one of the nicest courses around. Its by far nicer then the Wheat City, Glen Lea and Shilo. Last year i was a member at the Wheat city and im sure i will be again this year. Oak Island is just a little to far for me. Minnedosa and Neepawa are also very nice courses just wish they were a bit closer to us.  
 
What can we expect out of the new people running the course?

I've never had a bad experience dealing with the guys at Mulligan's. I don't spend a whole lot of time on the range but when I do it's the one I go to normally.

One of my favorite courses. I wouldn't say that its that much nicer than Shilo though. Shilo is always in excellant condition.  
 
I have found the service/attitudes at Oak Island much better lately than when they first opened. My first time there one of our group commented that their green fees were expensive, the guy at the counter said "What do you expect for the nicest course in Manitoba?" They acted like they were doing you a favour letting you play their course. As I said its been alot better lately.

I have always had great experiences at both Mulligan's and Oak Island. I can imagine the nice experience will continue and I am looking forward to golfing Oak and practicing at Mulligan's again this coming season

Gotta agree with the first half of your post. Shilo is always in top condition and I would say is as good as any 18 in Westman.  
 
Don't get me wrong I like Oak Island enough, although I rarely play it (haven't since 2015). I think they should start on the north 9 rather than the south, it makes more sense to me to do that. And no matter what it seems you'll always find the first par 5 on the front and the back (the 2 that run along the water) are in rough shape.

Haven't golfed Oak Island in a couple of years but have enjoyed the layout and the challenge when we have gone. Minnedosa is nice and Neepawa is great but lately, we have been heading north to Poplar Ridge just outside Onanole. The course isn't that old but it has some great holes and challenging greens. It is worth the drive.

I'm pretty sure when they opened you played the north 9 first. I think the reason for the switch is that its easier to monitor the tee box thats closer to the clubhouse.

I like Poplar Ridge. They made the fairway wider now. More forgiving then many years ago. I don't mind either way as they have great scenery.  
Is Oak Island leased out to the new people or did they actually sold the resort to them?

We played Oak Island its very first opening weekend - the south was the front nine with the north to follow. A few years later they flipped it so the north was the front nine, with the logic being they wanted to be able to see the golfers finishing on 18, and they hoped that finishing right in front of the clubhouse would boost post round drink sales. Then they flipped back to the original layout.  
 
The first report I saw about this change lead me to believe it was a similar arrangement to what Chris Kading had when he ran the Rec Centre a few years ago. But I can't seem to find that story now.

Andrew crew I have read a lot of rude comments on this site, but this takes the cake.  
I have been to Mulligans several times and I have had nothing but positive experience there. Perhaps you should provide feedback as to what was so troublesome so that owners are given a chance to make improvement or changes to better serve customers.  
I wish these local owners much prosperity in their new venture and I think it's important for community members to be supportive!
