Anyone else getting bombarded with spam calls from scammers posing as Amazon? Had several this morning from all different phone numbers. The call is pre-recorded and says your Amazon account has been charged $999 for an apple iPhone and its being shipped from China. Press 1 to cancel or speak to a representative.  
 
So I pressed 1 to speak to a representative! As soon as there was an actual person on the other end I asked to be put on their do not call list. They promptly hung up! Ten minutes later I get another call from a different area code and is the same call! Seven calls in total between 8am to 11:20am! The last call I asked the fellow why do I keep getting these calls... he was a smart-a and replies why do you keep pressing 1?!! So I said because I want you to put me on your do not call list! Then click!  
 
So I went on to the national do not call list, registered my number again and filed 7 complaints for the nuisance calls. I also used their chat feature on the website to discuss these calls. I was told I could contact my service provider and have the “ Stir/Shaken” feature added to my number. This will help to block unwanted callers! I have never heard of this before but will be calling to see what it involves!

Get these scam calls all the time. Really wish that authorities or phone providers would make an effort to punish those responsible and put an end to it.

are likely in India. The national Do Not Call lists have zero effect on them. And they do not have do not call lists themselves, they are scammers.  
 
Just have to recognize the scam and hang up, or annoy the crap out of them.

If I don’t recognize a number on my phone display I don’t answer it. Plain and simple. The numbers are from all over the world. Recently there has been an increase in scams coming by text too.  
Delete and move on. Never answer an unfamiliar number. Texts get deleted.  
If it is someone trying to get a hold of me they will leave a message.

From Amazon but I got a call from brinks security yesterday. They asked me how I was I said good, they said I’m so and so from brinks security, I said I’m not interested, then click they hung up. 100% guaranteed scam because even if you weren’t interested a legit business wouldn’t just hang up on you like that lol. I don’t trust anyone that calls me anymore, they pose as anything and everything now a days. I don’t care because I don’t fall for that ship but I feel really bad for the elderly or maybe even mentally challenged people, these guys know how to take advantage of them and it’s really really sad.

I get the Amazon at least once a month and texts and emails from FedEx.  
I’m with Spades! now don’t answer unfamiliar numbers especially my own that shows up now and then.

Had these yesterday too! They started at 7:45 am & had 4 before 10 am…same recorded message!

Spouse answered one yesterday and it Asked "Do you think Trudeau should go press 1"  
 
We registered for the do not call list when it first came out and only made it worse for a month before things slowed down a bit.

I used to answer the phone for all calls.  
Have call display on both cell phones and it has reduced the garbage  
considerably. We added call display to our business phone.  
Don't answer any numbers you don't recognize.  
There are also calls that they are just checking to see if the number is active.

after an interesting and antagonistic exchange. in one case she pretended to be a burglar in a residence with the homeowners wallet and credit cards. Made the caller so enraged he threatened to call the police!  
 
I used to receive many fraud calls until I started blocking numbers, and it really dropped the number of calls I would get when I took my number off of any social media account I had. I only used LinkedIn and Facebook so it was easy. Maybe not for others with many accounts tho... Just a thought.

I get this kind of calls almost everyday, once in awhile i would answer and press 1 intentionally. If I have a time to waste I play with them thinking the time they spend on me was enough to save someone else by being scammed. Sometimes I just give famous names like actors, presidents. They will hang up right away. I would suggest watch videos from YouTube by the name of Jim browning.

I think Tel companies can't do.anything about this cmbecause the scammers uses a third party applications to mock up local phone numbers to make it look on your phone displaying a local number was calling you. Other than that, educating ourselves about this scams are the best way to avod being scammed. Lot of videos from YouTube about this. But the to me the general rule is if is not in my contact list I wouldn't answer.

What you are saying nolily but when my phone rings I jump up to go answer then see a random number I don’t recognize. It’s still irritating that you still have to go see who it is so many times in such a short time! So since I posted this, I re registered with the do not call registry, and also filed a complaint for each one of these numbers. Yes it was a lot of work... BUT I haven’t had anymore calls THIS week. Not saying I won’t get any next week!
