Jacob Smith trying to scam money claiming his account has been hacked so can only email a cheque. Claims no other payment method will work

I think your leaving yourself open to liable.  
 
Perhaps Mr. Smith is telling the truth, I myself use e-interact as my preferred method of payment as I no longer have a credit card or paypal.

Got a msg from him myself this morning on one of my ads. He's too lazy to even type more than 1 word in his msg.! Just blocked him.

If you have access to your account, cash is King.

Liable and LIBEL are two very different things, and your spelling would suggest that u are only now learning that there is a difference between the two...and besides, he would have to prove that the statement damaged a reputation built by the individual.  
 
And using e-transfer, or paypal can be cancelled even after the recipient has accepted payment. In this case, the poster made reference to an emailed cheque, something I would discourage anyone from accepting, regardless of the circumstances.

I also had someone try that on me. She was having trouble with her bank account so could not get cash and wanted to send me a copy of a cheque. NO WAY. I told her that if she was having trouble with her bank account no way would they cash a cheque.

Lol. Yeah, and if he offered to send you payment for more than the item but want the difference back in cash when they picked it up saying that wasn’t legit would get you sued? Lol  
These are classic scams.  
Perhaps next time my grandson calls to bail him out of jail I should send that money asap. Or the web link to log into fix my account from bm0.ru

Had an ad on here under Agricultural and they said they would take the item and whatever payment method worked. I messaged back & said e transfer would work. They said they were having trouble with their bank account so couldn't do etransfer, or cash but could they send a copy of their cheque to an email! I used to work in a bank, not possible & this is definitely a scam. Don't respond! A good way to tell is these responses came in middle of the night (other country) & wording in responses were not very good english (different language translating)

No worries about getting sued pretty sure his real name isn't Smith.
