I like the concept of communal living been in a apartment in Brandon for 16 years, I know a lot of the immigrants are doing it, has anybody in Brandon have done this other than them?

What difference does it make if "anyone in Brandon has done it other then them"?  
 
If you're interested in communal living why not just pose the question

friends of ours (Canadian) Live in a house that is shared amongst one family of 3 generations (7 people total) they all share the mortgage it works well for them.  
Not sure what else you would like to know?

I've done it with my family. We had a lot of family dinners and we would have game nights. It was fun. Everybody was willing to help out with the child care.

Go join a Huderite colony, I don't think you will find it as much to your liking as you think. Communal living usually comes with a great deal more personal restrictions then you are used to

It's Hutterite* and after living in places where there are few that care about much more than themselves, a Hutterite colony actually sounds quite pleasant in the " it takes a community to raise a child " attitude.

I have looked at it over and over. It is a great concept but after having the freedom I currently have, there is no way I could live like that. If I want a vacation, buy a recreation toy, etc. I can. If having a large family is what you want this may be a better way to fund it.

I have lived in a open relationship house with friends where there was a husband and wife and extra partner and I. It can be nice to have extra people around to help with busy children (especially when one or more have behavioural problems ) plus you have someone to split chores with. Someone cooks, another will help with the clean up, while someone helps the kids and another can be doing other house work or having down time. It's really just like living in a rooms to rent situation where everyone is friendly to each other.
