A young woman damaged our vehicle one night by spray painting it. It had snowed and the police followed the tracks and were able to arrest her, she still had black paint on her hands. A party house across the street.  
 
We take her to small claims court and the judge orders her to pay damages in such an amount of time. Then we get a letter that they have extended that amount of time. That was 5 years ago and we have not heard anything since. So just a waste of time, no one enforced the judges orders.  
 
She didn't have a job for garnishment, didn't have a license to pull.  
 
So if you win, it may never be enforced - our wonderful legal system.

Thank you bassman and weathered heart for your kind words. Deep down I know it's a lost cause but you never know if there is something that can be done with unless you start asking.  
I was just looking for insight and other ideas.  
On a side note the company will hand over the footage no questions asked. But RCMP refused to even entertain the thought of asking for it or viewing it.  
Talked to an older officer about this and he said so many other ways it could have been handled. Also commented that this new generation of officers are getting lazier and lazier. That real paper work, investigating and looking into things properly has been put on the back burner and less practiced. His words people. Not mine.

I think one of the problems that occurring is that the number of officers is continuing to decline and the areas that they have to patrol is getting larger, you can only ask so much of people, and I'm one who believes the members are being pushed to the limit.
