I’m at a point of my life where I think I’m done reproducing myself.  
I have been thinking about vasectomy.  
There are not many things that I’m afraid of, but this one is one of them.  
The thought of getting the wrong wire cut and having my body part out of commission horrifies me.  
Also I still remember, when I was about 8 years old. I was biking , and as my foot slipped from the pedal and I hit the bike frame straight between my legs. 35 years later I still remember the pain. It was the only time in my life I wished I was a girl.  
Very worried about the pain factor.  
What are your experiences here ?  
Any doctors some of you might recommend?  
I really don’t wanna to go thru the bike frame thing again.

Billinkoff vasectomy centre is in Wpg. He does no scalpel vasectomy. It's a breeze. In and out in an hour, done in the office and you can drive yourself home. Very little pain, if any. I'm a huge SUCK when it comes to anything medical and pain and this was a breeze. Had it done 10 years ago there. I would highly recommend it. He has a website, bvc.mb.ca

You can be pre-screened online and, once approved, you book your appointment and it's over in 10 minutes. Believe it or not, I have had dental surgery that was 1000x worse than this. There is just some awkwardness and some tenderness afterwards but no pain.

My husband's was done here in Brandon by Dr. Kassier. It was so much easier and quicker than he thought it would be. He was up and walking around within an hour. He was tender for a couple of days, but he never had any major pains with it. Ask the Doctor lots of questions to alleviate your concerns about possible complications. The important thing is to go in for the 6 month follow up, as that determines that it worked properly.

Dr Kassier is on a leave, unknown when he will return. As a health care professional, I have had a number of clients who have gone to Billinkoff, none have had any concerns afterward - all feedback has been similar to the above.

Another vote for Dr. Billinkoff here. Had mine 7 years ago. Quick and painless, tender for a few days afterwards, but did drive myself home to Brandon after the procedure. I think most painful part was watching old Home Improvement episode while he was "doing the job".

He did mine 5 ish years ago. No issues what so ever. I spent more time laughing at the Home Improvement episode on TV then what he was doing. Quick and fairly painless. There will be some tenderness afterwards and some bruising, but it's not that bad. Just remember 2 things. 1) ice as much as you can. Use magic bags or a bag or peas. Have 2 so one can go in the freezer while you're using the other. 2) don't try to run a marathon.

I don't want to hijack this topic, but I also am considering this. I'm not too concerned about the procedure itself... just want to ensure it's worth it. After you've been given the "green light" after the 6 month time period, is there any concern about it failing? My doctor has said that in theory there isn't, but I don't really want to depend on "in theory"... would prefer real life experiences. Basically, I'm wondering if you can fully trust it after it's done?

He did mine about 3 years ago and all went well. Talking to others though just make sure you follow the doctors directions for post prodedure and take it easy, if you do that it really wasn’t to bad. Just make sure you have some frozen peas!!

Can a vasectomy fail? Well, nothing is 100%, but this is as close as it gets. Sure, you will find someone where the vas deferens healed itself but if you watch the video at Dr. Billinkoff's site on how he does the procedure, you will see the steps he goes to in order to reduce the risk of that happening to as close to zero as possible.

From what we were told 14 years ago when my husband's was done, as long as you go for the 6 month check up and your count is at zero, you're good. Usually the fails you hear about are because the check up wasn't done and the procedure didn't work 100%, but the patient never finds that out without the check up.

I have had it done and am one of the unlucky ones to have complications to the point where the boys swelled up to watermelon size but other then that and the occasional ghost aching the pain was manageable was off about a week because of the swelling but would do it again if I had to my was the clip and snip type so very invasive

I had no issues... just dont do what a good friend of mine did. No lie... went out and played football day after the surgery... yep a few complications after that and the size of grapefruits...lol
