I heard on the news about how some schools are changing where they are going etc. etc.  
 
I can't believe they are even talking about even still going at all for any of them.  
 
ALL travel should be cancelled. This virus is deadly and spreads very fast.  
 
Would you want your teenager caught in a foreign country in lock down and suddenly that part finds the virus there?  
 
One Italy trip was going to an area in lock down and the travel agency helpfully moved them to another part of Italy. Really so stupid.  
 
Cancel each and every one. Go Class Action Suit if you have to and get every penny back that you have paid for the trip.  
 
But when it come down to it. No money is worth the life of your child or anyone's child.  
 
Countries don't put these travel advisories out there for fun.  
 
I was thinking as well how safe are these airplanes that perhaps had carried infected people. They are bacterial laden already with recycled air. How in the world could it have been cleaned properly?  
 
When a deadly virus is found the host country should immediately shut their borders. No one in or out. Keep it contained in that area.  
 
Not that it is always possible. Movies that unfortunately are coming true in today's world.  
 
Outbreak 1995 - Army tried to eliminate a deadly virus but a monkey escaped and was smuggled in as a pet and it spread the virus.

that it is not one of the places that I would necessarily choose to travel to at the moment. However if you look at the travel advisories, for Italy and other parts of the world, Canada is still recommending to take normal security precautions (with the exception of Northern Italy)  
Many people that have booked tours need, in order to cancel and receive their money back, to have Canada issue a "non essential Travel warning " travel advisory. Its confusing considering they have closed schools and cancelled events to attempt to contain any further outbreaks.  
Unfortunately the country is still driven by money and is not yet ready to take this step.  
Heck they are still not quarantining or screening people as they enter the country? We do not need to live in fear but we as a country need to be a bit sensible and take precautions.

I have never really understood these school trips in general. When i was in school we were lucky if we got to go to Winnipeg, not a foreign country.

Yes the flu kills more people blah blah blah but come on. Yes these kids are healthy and would probably be fine if they caught it but let’s not bring it back to spread around. I certainly would not want to be responsible for bringing it back and it spreading and someone ultimately dies because of it.  
 
Why are they even going overseas to begin with? Is there not enough beautiful things to see in our own country? Even the US for that matter?  
 
We just had a family member have an accident in a foreign country. It was pretty scary that the proper medical care was not given and luckily they were able to fly back. It put things into perspective very quickly.

I read that Italy has the 4th highest rate of people infected? Maybe I am not reading a proper source but I am sorry - why go somewhere that has way more cases than Canada. People who have not been travelling are getting the virus from unknown sources. Those that have been travelling are obviously not taking the proper precautions and spreading it.  
 
We have family in Washington where a lot of these cases are popping up. Try telling the family of the man who died in the hospital that he only had 2% chance of getting it.  
 
Maybe all of your family is healthy and would bounce back easily if they got sick. Not everyone is healthy.  
 
You can not compare peoples lifestyle choices causing death as an example. We all know the risks associated with driving a vehicle, having an unhealthy diet etc. Those are things we can blame ourselves for when the outcome is bad. But to just go about your day and end up sick because of someone else going on a vacation is not right.  
 
Changing the destination of these trips is the only option imo.

The Brandon School division have canceled school trips.

Common sense prevailed.

Yes it’s probably for the best, but the students must be so disappointed. I read that the families will get back “most” of the cost... I wonder how much they’re losing?

It’s cheaper to loose a bit of money now then for them to end up quarantined including their own families. School missed plus parents missing work etc
