Hand Sanitizer and Disinfecting Alcohol

We currently have a shortage of both hand sanitizer and alcohol for disinfecting purposes. In the last few days several distilleries in Winnipeg have started producing alcohol for hospitals and emergency services, but this is not available to the general public. The province has requested businesses that can provide this service to apply. I was wondering can the ethanol plant in Minnedosa not do the same thing? They have the ability to produce it in vast quantities, probably produce enough to serve the entire province including all emergency services and the entire general public. They could probably do a year supply in one or two batches. Does anyone know if they have considered providing this service? If anyone knows the bosses in charge there, could they mention this to them and ask?

Just letting you know Spray Nine is a disinfectant and kills a lot of bacteria’s and viruses. It has a higher percent of active ingredient than Clorox wipes. You can get spray bottles or medium or big jugs of it at Canadian Tire. It’s in the cleaning aisle as well as the Automotive Cleaning aisle! It’s pricy compared to Clorox ,Lysol, etc but hopefully it should do the trick!

Any type of soap if used for a full 20 seconds works just as well.

The following might help dispel a few fears over not having sanitizers or bleach. Here is a quote from National Geographic:

“With bleach, if you put it on a surface with a lot of dirt, that [dirt] will eat up the bleach,” says Lisa Casanova, an environmental health scientist at Georgia State University. She and other experts instead recommend using milder soaps, like dish soap, to easily sanitize a surface indoors and outdoors."
