In the good news category, Westoba CU has announced having made donations to many community organizations in need throughout the region during the pandemic. They’ve published a list of all recipients at:

Many scenarios being looked at with no guarantee at this time of a resumption of classroom learning in September and the very real possibility of online learning being involved on at least some level. More details on Riding Mountain National Park, which in a Facebook post thanks people for not visiting this weekend with motor vehicle traffic to visitors continuing to be suspended. Plans are to on June 1 begin offering limited access to limited services with physical distancing measures in place.

Brandon School Division announced late this afternoon that their playgrounds are now available for use once again, with the expectation that users practice safe distancing and sanitize before and after use. Please see full notice for all details:

Please be mindful that with the change in weather there's the chance of crowds developing at some playgrounds that might make distancing difficult, factoring that into your usage decision of any given playground.

Just a note that while the pandemic is still very much ongoing and sounds like the virus has the potential to massively go up in prevalence if given a favourable environment to do so, it won’t be possible or probably necessary for me to post these updates each and every day indefinitely. I will continue to watch for Prairie Mountain Health-specific updates and post to this thread when new locally-relevant info is learned. May return to daily updates in the event of a shift in the pandemic response.  
 
It’s important to continue to follow guidance from the province and health officials on the pandemic into what looks like the distant future. Doubly so with the virus having been confirmed to be present in this part of the province with more than two dozen cases.

They really should be commended as our only local presence at the media briefings, asking questions that folks in this area are much better off with the answers to!

Via the City, a third shift of sequestered staff is now in place at the water treatment plant... to be re-evaluated next week. Thanks to all all staff for making this sacrifice!

For those interested in following the presence of the virus in North Dakota, the state reported a single-day high of 134 cases yesterday for a total of 2,229 since the pandemic started.  
 
Though the majority of ND’s cases are in Cass County (home to Fargo), 24 of yesterday’s were in Ward County (home to Minot). That number for Ward nearly doubled in a single day it’s prev total of 29.  

State reports having tested 61,279. Manitoba in comparison has tested 36,402 and has had 290 total positive cases during the pandemic to-date.

Just a great moment at BRHC today with a patient able to leave the facility after 17 days in care for COVID-19:  

Brandon Regional Health Centre celebrated with staff lining the hallway to say goodbye to our patient who after 17 days in the hospital due to COVID-19, was able to go home. We wish her all the best and thank our staff for the great care they provided. pic.twitter.com/93CmeB5lro
