The Province has issued Friday’s COVID-19 bulletin at:
https://news.gov.mb.ca/news/?archive=&item=49456
A local perspective on data released alongside that update is below. Today’s update is a little confusing from a Prairie Mountain data viewpoint. Reporting what is in the data, interested in any explanations anyone has come across.
BRANDON:
Total cases: 348 (+1)
Active cases: 14 (no change)
Recoveries: 333 (+1)
Deaths: 1 (no change)
7-day average increase in total case count calculates as: 0.71 (same)*
PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH REGION:
Total cases: 592 (+18. Note that an increase of just one is officially reported in today’s provincial bulletin. It is unclear why the overall number has increased by 18)
Active: 42 (+12)
Recoveries: 546 (+6)
Deaths: 4 (no change)
Current Hospitalizations: 2 (no change)
7-day average increase in total case count calculates as: ***5.43 (+2.15)*
Compared to yesterday, these are the differences in PMH case breakdown by age group in differentiating provincial data released yesterday vs today. Of note, the total increase across all age groups equals the same 18 that the Prairie Mountain Health case total increased by in data as a whole as noted above.
60-69: +1 female, +1 male
50-59: +1 female, +1 male
40-49: +2 female, +1 male
30-39: +2 female, +2 male
20-29: +1 female, +2 male
10-19: +1 female, +2 male
0-9: +1 male
Of note, earlier this week I had noted that Prairie Mountain was at zero hospitalizations for the first time in quite some time. As it turns out, the hospitalization number was not reported for that date. The following day saw a return to a number of 2 PMH hospitalizations.
In Manitoba as a whole, the province is reporting 163 new cases of COVID-19 and a five-day test positivity rate of 6.5%.
*Calculations independently performed based on daily case data released by the province
***Am taking this average with a large grain of salt without more context for the increase in PMH case count on the provincial dashboard today and what led to it. Possible we’re looking at some kind of re-allocation from another region/district?
