Potential work stoppage at Bdn Clinic.
Clerical and support staff at the Brandon Clinic are ready to walk off the job. About 57 workers have rejected the employer's most recent offer and may begin a work stoppage on Tuesday.
Canadian Union of Public Employees Rep Doug McLaughlin says the decision to walk is a last resort. He says the workers are on average earning 40% less than similar employees at other clinics.
The Brandon Clinic meanwhile is bracing for a potential work stoppage. Administrator Andy Brown says if the workers do walk: the clinic will still be operational. The multi-specialty clinic has 38 physicians working there.
