Used Baby Car Seats

I see a lot of car seats for sale, and while it is not illegal it is not illegal to sell a second hand car seat AS LONG as it complies with the applicable CMVSS and has not expired. It is NOT advisable to sell or buy a second hand car seat - if you sell one you may become totally responsible legally should something be missing or it does not perform as designed in a crash. If you buy a second hand seat, you are accepting the fact that you might not have all the parts, instructions and not know the history of the seat. Some insurance companies do not accept second hand seats for claims, etc. Not a good thing to do
Car Seats - Car seats must meet the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Before selling a used car seat, check with Transport Canada (1-800-333-0371 or www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety) for more information and to find out if the car seat has been recalled.
