Exercise equipment. What works vs a waste of money?

Just wondering from what people have tried what they would recommend for exercise equipment.
I know tv shows and other online sites say all kinds of things but I'm hoping to get ebrandoners advice on what to try, what works, and whats a waste of money from their personal experiences.
