I had knee surgery on Friday. It's now tuesday morning, the doctor never came to see me after I got discharged and he won't be in his office until Wednesday/Thursday. I have a few questions, am I able to take of the knee brace so I can take a proper shower? I'm sick of sponge baths lol. Or do I have to wait until my appt in 2 weeks?

I had a scoping done a year or so ago and the hospital sent me home with instructions. I can't remember what they were but everyone gets them and they go over them with you before you leave. Refer to them and follow the instructions and there should be exercises to do also, very important.

thats my question too, did you not get direction on what to do once you're home? The hospital usually gives you a list of things to watch for and do once you're discharged. If its a full knee replacement, you can't shower until staples are out. I'm thinking it isn't a full replacement because you're still wearing your brace. Wait until you see the surgeon, he can advise further

If you call the Orthopedic Surgeon's office, you should be able to speak to a nurse who is familiar with his post-op instructions, even if the surgeon isn't in the office.

The hospital might be able to advise you. Maybe call them and ask for the department.

I had reconstructive surgery on my ACL a year ago. They didn't advise me to wear my brace at all after the surgery, they just bandaged it up, and I had an ice machine wrapped around it to keep the swelling down. I would take the machine off and wrap my knee in syran wrap and do a balancing act to take a shower, but I was probably showering a few days after my surgery. Hurt, and was a pain, but so nice to finally shower! haha good luck! knee surgery is not fun at all!
