Friday forecast - snow?

So are we getting a ton of snow this Friday? Is it a storm or what do you think?

.... 5-10cm is hardly a storm or really even a significant snowfall It's 2-4" of snow at best

Always good to try to have an idea what might be coming our way, if for no other reason than some plans can break one way or another depending on the weather!

I've developed a lot of respect for the site "A Weather Moment." There are some online sources that have popped up in recent years with people that aren't meteorologists that are getting taken seriously as if there are one but this dude knows his stuff. The link below is Winnipeg-centric but gives a good idea of how he see the weekend systems shaping up. For Wpg at least, Friday is only a couple cm with Sunday being a little more meaningful amount. You can see at the map at the link where the most recent info has Brandon being:

The one thing I've learnt is to take forecasts this far out with a little bit of a grain of salt since the slightest shifts in track can mean the difference between one area getting the heart of a system an it being on the fringe of it. Will keep an eye on forecasts I see over the next day or two and share unless someone else beats me to it!

Agree. But that much snow or rain being at/near the freezing temp mark is a recipe for terrible highway conditions. Probably be fine for daytime travel but as sun begins to set could get greasy.

Just to follow-up......
Looks like snow on our doorstep this evening. Going by forecast nothing like what we had a couple weeks ago, but might effect a plan or two! Env Canada has us down for 5cm tonight. Weather Network website says about 5cm this evening, 1-3 overnight and less than 1 tomorrow AM...... then a chance for a little more on Sunday.

Weather Network's long-range mentions chance of another not-insignificant 5-10cm next weekend.... put as much stock into a forecast this far out as you see fit
