To keep in mind if you have possible weather-dependent plans later this afternoon and into the evening.... Looks like today is the kind of day that gets storm chasers stirring. Setup has a chance to lead to some of the more severe storms of the season for SW Manitoba/SE Saskatchewan... 3-5cm hail, 90-100k wind gusts, downpours

The link below i:ncludes a map that outlines the area that currently looks to be facing the threat of the most severe, including the notation of a tornado threat "particularly in the Weyburn-Moosomin-Virden-Melita corridor":

Another map from this AM that has Brandon a little more soundly in the risk zone for some of the more severe stuff along with much of the traditional eBrandon usage area...

Minot is glitching on WeatherUnderground, but if you click 'zoom' to 150% it will load. Definitely not a good day for issues!

I’m working in one of the Boyd’s kiosks at the corral Center. It’s sunny out but the wind is picking up some. Not as bad as this morning but it’s getting there.

Strange! Glad you noticed that.

Guess we could get some storms out of this, but it just doesn't feel like it yet. Was up before sunrise and it was dead calm with no dew, and there was a bit of clouds at that time but they were pretty high, by 9:00 the wind was up and has stayed up. Now I've been wrong more times that I care to admit, but a really high ceiling seems to take the punch out of storms, but like I said, I've been wrong a lot of times.

FYI Souris-Glenwood is now severe storm warned for a cell dropping nickel to ping pong hail:

FWIW though the Env Canada warning says the storm is moving East, not sure how much stock to put into it but the Weather Network's future radar has that same storm eventually progressing Northeast through Brandon.... though I imagine very hard to predict a storm's radar path!

Our satillite went out over a half an hour ago so we went for a drive south from our place, we only received 2/10 th of an inch, but two miles south there was a certain amount of water laying in the fields.
Sort of curious if there were reports of hail, as well as rainfall totals in some of the areas that showed heavy rainfall on the radar.

I''m a mile west of Minto , we just got hit hard by ping pong size hail, strong winds, and now heavy rain to. It ''s so bad here we got broken windows on the back of the house some trees down, and I''m guessing all crops are total loss with this sized hail. It''s not safe to go out here at the moment. Wishing hopefully some better luck to all the others out there that got hit, or are going to as this storm moves on.

Not sure where the hail started south of here, when you hear a storm that has that roaring sound you wonder if it's just heavy rain and wind, or hail. When we went for our drive it was still raining heavy so we couldn't tell if there was hail damage in our area or not. By tomorrow afternoon the area will likely be know.

of Minto one of my customers had a tornado in his yard with massive damage his machine shed is gone all that left is the holes the posts were in with damaged equipment standing out . His house is bad with roof damage and decks blown off, and trees are shredded like I've never seen before. his bins are damaged and one is half mile away in his neighbors field. It looks like his place has had a bomb go off.

His feedlot over in the next mile is bad to all the corals are damaged and his creep feeder is across a field looking like it's been barrel rolled there. I have just been out helping him try catch some pretty stunned looking cattle. He's lost his crops to and has a huge lake down his drive that wasn't there before the storm. What hit them was real nasty. Luckily nobody was hurt or killed there.

WOW that sounds awful,what a devastating event to have to endure to your farm and livelihood and family . This trend we are getting with these storms are getting worrisome .I am sure they got insurance but still it's a long and tiring process rebuilding your life like you knew it along with getting your belonging back in order. All the best to your friends and hope they get through this
