Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Severe thunderstorms developing in eastern Montana and North Dakota will continue to push into southern Manitoba late this evening and overnight into Friday morning.
Wind gusts greater than 90 km/h, up to golf ball sized hail and rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 mm will be possible with these thunderstorms.
The risk of severe weather will taper off from west to east overnight but could persist until the morning hours.
This severe thunderstorm watch may be expanded towards the Ontario border later this evening as the system continues to develop.
