When I had a 1/2 ton I found patio blocks were better and used for about 10 years. 8 24"x24" blocks fill the bed and leave it totally useful for hauling anything ( unlike shifting frozen bags around). Take out and store for the summer or I used them for a walkway around the garden that was not an area used in the winter. Double usage!!

My truck had built in slots inside the box so I put a 2x4 in front and behind the wheel wells to hold the bags over the axle. I got empty bags from Princess Auto and filled them myself at Wheat City out on Victoria ave east.

I used to use these all the time as weight, but have been told many many times not too because if your truck were to roll, those patio blocks may come through your back window or someone else's...
